Pour the gin into a Highball glass, then add 3 ice cubes. Stir for 3 seconds. Add the tonic water and stir once. Garnish with the lime wedge.
Traces back to the British in colonial India, where quinine in tonic water was taken to prevent malaria; gin was added to make the bitter tonic more palatable, giving rise to one of the most enduring highballs in the canon.
